Ni Hao nommies ! Another Steamboat post, which is actually pending in my draft for like N months ago ! This is the first time we ate Hai Di Lao, during my elder sister b'day (like march~) till now. Clearing all my post caches before all the new one coming up. Planning to edit my vlog like real soon ! Please hold on till end of oct alright !!

In Hai Di Lao, what you really eat is their service, they offer express manicure and snacks before the real thing starts. What is the worst thing is that, because they have these service, please be expected that you really need to WAIT if you didn't make any reservation. They are so damn packed with humans, eating the snacks, once the lift reached their level.

Since it is steamboat, of course it is sabu sabu meat slices, and it's really nice ! You can feel the freshness of the meat. Nommieeeee~ And others are also good. Liking the tomato soup base, cause it gives this refreshing taste and not so oily even after cooking the meat.

Order the noodle, if you want some performance. All their fish paste will be well-scooped and cooked for you ! So it is the service they are selling, and of course the food. The ambiance is pretty atas and huge spaces between tables !

Hello nommies, we are back in eating FOOD ! YAY ! To be real frank, I'm having food tasting every now and then, because it is my job. LOL !

This is not a sponsored post, but it is a father's day celebration post, ya somewhere in May'15. Let's nom !

The Beauty in the pot at OneKM is owned by Paradise Dynasty, and obviously it is atas. Definitely not cheap, but the food (especially the seafood) is real good. Although it is at OneKM, but reservation is kinda a must, otherwise you need to wait for quite some time !

Like other most a la carte steamboat, ordering is through Ipad. Usually, we don't order a lot, and if it is not enough, then re-order it !

 Overall review:

The combination of sauce: soya sauce + garlic + "xiang chai"

The soup base is known for having much collagen, that one obviously I could not taste it. But the soup base, after boiling for a while, it kept having the foam and they do provide the scooper and a bottle to throw the foam. In addition, they have four bottles of the soup base for refilling at your own pace. It taste pretty milky, but with the meat soak inside, it became oily pretty easily too.

The meat is the premium type, with much marbles on top of the thin sliced meat. Thus, with the 3 dips into the steamboat pot will get it cooked! Much tender and it does not have any beefy taste or porky taste.

The seafood is SUPER DUPER SUPER FRESH! THE PRAWN IS RAW! Can you believe it?! The prawn is swimming inside the wine, feeling a little bad to throw them down alive, but that is how fresh it is. I'm so sorry prawn, my dad throw u down, not me. Loving the fish paste with the small fish eggs on top. The waitress will help you to prepare them, and each paste ball will contain the fish eggs! Chewy fish egg, and some popping element inside, must order!

The total bill came up to $220 for 5 people, it is considered expensive, but we kind of over ordered too. It is more worth it if you came with a lot of people, as the soup base is fixed price, and it is already $25. So it is like damn wasted if only two people come right.

After the meal, there is mocktail for us and it taste refreshing as it is ice blended! The service is pretty alright, as each staff has their designated table to be in-charged. They serve food really fast, just that we have to ask for the mocktail for quite a number of time, which is pretty disappointed. Otherwise, everything is pretty up to standard.

Eat well,
Till the next post !
Bello peeps ! I'm back from my torture job which totally has no break in 22 days ! oh gee man !

Anyway, I'm always back to food posts ! I mean all my life seems near food and nowhere else, kekes~

Near my neighbour, okay not really near, but north area, there is always people saying," have you tried the sembawang white bee hoon?" And me here saying, "at where?!" hahahs !

And I'm proud to say, yes, I have tried it ! So here's my reviewww !

Everything, I mean those I ordered, are like simply delicious. And I just realise my pictures are so blur, hahahahs. Its the food that counts right?

This wu xiang, is full of meat ! I don't really like eating it but this I love it ! The meat is way toooo soft even its crispy on the outside *love*

P.S/ so sorry for a weird blur picture, but my parents have no patient for me to take picture~ hahahs

Next ! Will be my our all times favourite, the sweet-and-sour pork ! Okay, so sorry for those who are halal buttt~ this is my favourite dish !! On top of that, you know in some places, the flour will be like 80% while the meat is only 20%. For this, it's like 80% meat and 20% flour, which is so much satisfying !

And lastly, of course, the white bee hoon itself, and being a proud xinhua people (its a dialect), the noodles is a xinhua noodles, which is much thinner and more Q, hahash. Also, have to praise the gravy/soup of the noodles as its chicken soup which is so much more flavourful !

However, the queue is always non-stop, like literally. It's opposite sembawang shopping center, quite ulu place BUT still long queue. I guess singaporeans are all foodies !

I will high recommend this ! It's quite affordable, like zhi-cha pricing and good food ! Also, if you are there, try their ai-yu drink, its real nice for this hot summer singapore weather !

Le Ho ! (Hello in teochew) ! I'm really blessed to enter Baxter Healthcare, meeting my supervisor and the eating kakey ! And last thursday, we went out and eat together. So they planned to eat the recently opened xin kin chilli pan mee and swa garden which is an authentic teochew restaurant !

To be real freak, I feel that the KL xin kin chilli pan mee, isn't really very nice. I mean it's quite okay, a little better than the coffee shop noodles, but it isn't really there.

Okay, firstly, the noodles, the noodles are for people who love those hard noodles, I mean I love those wobbly soft noodles, but that is quite alright, and it don't really feel that QQ taste. But what's nice is the chili (like duh) and the meat. Because their meat have the seasoning which makes the whole dish more flavorful, and the chili also bring out the meat taste. So maybe thumb up for the meat and chili !

Next would be their fish ball noodles ! The fish balls are real huge, and when I taking picture, my supervisor said with her finger will show how huge the fish ball is ! It's really big, and it is quite QQ, taste like fish paste instead ! So really worth it to buy the soup. It's just the fish ball, don't think the soup is super nice, it isn't~ It just like normal veg soup?

Overall, I would rate it a 3.5/5, as it do have it yummy pointers, but in all, isn't really super great, except u love hard noodles, like my sister. Then you could check it out !

Just two stores away away from the KL pan mee, there is actually a hidden treasure of the swa garden ! It's really hidden germ ! It has the old school type of a restaurant, with really delicious food ! I doubt it is really cheap, but it's nice~

Firstly, cold crab. Yes, it's cold crab, and this is the dish where u need to reserve before you can eat it ! Because it's cold crab, you get to enjoy it even more, as the freshness will still be there, and you can put it in your mouth abit long. hahahahs

Next, braised duck, a common dish we can eat it anywhere, but their sauce is from herbs and you can really feel that it is soaked inside the tau pok ! And the meat is really big piece !

Oyster omelette ! I actually don't eat oyster from omelette, as some have this fishy taste, so I don't really like it. But this don't have it, I mean to my mouth la. And the oyster really like well mixed with the egg, or should I say that they are really generous with their oyster?

Lastly, is my mum's fav, the~~~~ yam? hahahahs~ okay, I actually didn't know what is it really called, but it's yam. And I actually quite feel that this is okay, I don't usually eat yam, so ya~ I actually eat it !

Rate for swa garden: 4.5/5 ! Really great food and great service ! I even have the thoughts of being my family here !

Helllllo FOODIES ! Missing my food post ;) kekeke, so sorry for the packeddddddd period which makes me feel so guilty not treating my tummy some good food and you all too ! So to make me feel better, not being sinful alone. I shall introduce you all to Wan He Lou !

As you all know that Chinese New Year is around the corner, yes, next year's Chinese New Year is on the 31th January 2014, and other than new clothes, angbao and bian nian, maybe most of us would also think of places to have our reunion dinner, as Chinese New Year means reunion dinner. Perhaps, some of us would have steamboats in our house, but I bet many would head out to eat, despite being a large families or simply just you and your partner.

And be glad that Wan He Lou would love to cater your needs and wants to give both your stomach and family some loves and care.

Wan He Lou is Cantonese restaurant that serve you merely great food, but also cozy vintage Chinese restaurant feeling and great friendly service. And you know what is the best part?..... *scroll down*

IT'S GST AND SERVICE CHARGE FREEEEEE !!!! NO, THIS IS NOT COFFEE SHOP NOR HAWKER CENTER, even hawker center also have GST charges included. THIS IS A GRAND CHINESE RESTAURANT ! Can you see your pocket being a little fatter while eating more?!

I really love the setting inside the restaurant, even it's a little plan, but those big lantern lights just makes you feel comfortable, together with the mini small picture frames of their dishes.

So, we are the white rats to make sure that it's worth it or not to visit Wan He Lou, I will not lie on anything regarding food ! Having the honor to taste the 5 course CNY Set Meal, which will launch on 1.1.2014, and some of their famous a la carte items

5 Course CNY Set Meal ($88.00 for 2 Pax)

Shark's fin soup with crab meat and conpoy:

A Soup represent how well the Chinese restaurant carry out their name, because it isn't easy to have a soup that meet everyone's expectation especially for elderly. I have to give a thumb up for wan he lou's shark's fin soup with crab meat and conpoy, simply because they are generous in the ingredients they putting in. Although shark's fin is not encourage due to environment reason, but wan he lou did not offer this for all year but just during Chinese New Year season where they expect more traditional Chinese would love to enjoy it in this season.

A soup doesn't only consist of the ingredients but also the soup, the soup isn't too watery nor too thick, which personally I love it as you would want to continue drinking it one more after another, as it flow down your throat .

Braised Yee Fu noodles with Lobster

A simply yet flavorful dish to fill your stomach up. The noodles are first cooked and having the gravy over it, the noodles absorb the the sweetness of the vegetable taste (more of the xiao bai cai) and lesser of the mushroom taste. Personally, I feel this dish would be more suitable of people who like more bland taste, which this dish carry out very well. Also, the lobster is considered as the small lobster, which has much more of the freshness taste instead of having more tasteless meat taste.

*Note: The lobster should be taken out, so it won't be overcook by the heat of the noodles. Otherwise the meat will be much stiff, instead of chewy*

Dessert:
Sweetie-bites; for Chinese restaurants usually there will be dessert as a last dish, even in western there's also dessert, but what's unusual is that.... THEY HAVING WESTERN DESSER O.O ! Making me sooooo tempted to retry my macaroon and even ask the boss if they have the recipe to send me. LOL. Okay, back to topic, their dessert is chocolate ice creammmmm, macaroons and jellies which consists of nada-de-coco too !

Since it's a 5 course CNY meal set, of course there is two more, however Wan He Lou only prepare food with fresh ingredients with make us unable to try two dishes, but you can try them after 1.1.14 !

There are the:

  • Abalone "Lo Hei" Yu Sheng  (It's of course a MUST to have yu sheng )
  • Green Dragon Vegetable

Not to be missed Ala Carte Items:

If you know Wan He Lou, You would know their Signature Lobster Porridge, there is more than one lobster swimming inside the Lobster Porridge, and as mention that Wan He Lou is a Cantonese restaurant which means that their porridge is the rice + soup, and not congee.

Personally, I love congee, but I think that porridge also have their tasty side. Like this lobster porridge, where the rice could absorb the sweetness of the pumpkin soup, also the pumpkin soup isn't too thick of the pumpkin taste, it's more like suitable for the whole family, where the taste of even out and not mid nor robust.

Also, to prevent overcooked lobster, be sure to take it out from the soup first !

Signature Lobster Porridge - $29.90

The Robust Flavours:

If your taste buds prefer something more impact-ful, something more strong tasting, then these two dishes would be towards your liking.

1. Crispy Lotus

Personally I feel that if you love robust flavour, you would definitely love this dish ! It's kind of taste like the salted egg prawn, but instead of prawn, it's fried lotus ! Lotus gives a freshening taste while salted egg give out the salty taste, and when both come together, it mixed pretty well, even better than with the prawn !

However, after you keep eating it, you would sure want to order some water. As the strong taste will choked your throat and your mouth + throat will feel uncomfortable, with the leftover taste of this dish.

Crispy Lotus with Salted Egg - $11.90

2. Pan Fried Kurobuta Pork:

This is my favorite dish ! The Pan Fried Kurobuta Pork is different from the usual pork you eat in the supermarket or other places. This meat is soooo much tender and with every bite, you can feel the layering texture of the meat. Together with the strong tasting gravy that allow you to feel both the strong, salty and thick gravy sauce with the tender and soft meat. Sounds like a perfect match uh ! Oh, the meat is still soft and tender, with a little crispy at the side of the meat, as it's pan fried !

Pan Fried Kurobuta Pork - $14.90

Overall rating:
Food- 4.5/5 ( As it's suitable for a family, as it has mild and robust flavouring)
Service- 3/5 (As mostly we are serviced by the manager and the boss, which I can't really rate. But they are really friendly)
Price- 3.5/5 ( Depends whether you can rich anot. Price listed there. But for me, I think it's worth it)

With the two pretty bloggers that are with me for the food tasting :} Yes, I got dark eye bag.
A pure food post, awesome much? Hahas. Actually ate Ding Tai Feng on new year's eve, but it's still not that late to blog about it right?

So.... HERE WE GO !

Drinks is always a must to order whenever you are dinning out. And this is lemongrass drink. It taste like lemon + grass? hahas. Actually it's not my order but still want to share simply because DinTaiFung offer a big giant ice ball and a real lemon grass a display ! Cool or what?!

Next stop, it's the starter ! Wa, THIS IS MY FAVORITE AMONG THE BEST ! I forget what is the real name, BUT it's a full prawn wrapped in the thin layer of wanton skin ! And the sauce is like.... Very nice. I should do a video of my expression at the spot la ! I mean, I kinda forget how it taste but is a must try ! hahahs !

Next up, my dan dan mai, which is peanut butter noodles !

It really taste like heaven at the first bite, then your marginal utility will keep dropping, because the peanut butter will taste more and more thick and at the last mouth, you will be like O.M.G

The most simple wanton noodle.

The soup is really refreshing and the noodles is really QQ ! :} I only tasted one mouth, but this shot looks nice ! hahas

Fried Rice with Shrimps and eggs

An extremely popular dish, the ingredients are pared down to simple rice, shrimps, eggs, and spring onions, creating a taste of familiar comfort. Each plate is of a certain weight and minimal seasoning is used so that the natural fragrance of the eggs and spring onions shines through.

* This review is from din tai fung's website. Because I didn't eat this !
