Tweekly; Cosmetic surgery

Hello my dear readers, so this week's Tweekly started early, as I will always post it on a Friday. As stated at the title, today's topic would be cosmetic surgery. I remembered that I have some oral communication as I go with the difference between plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery.

Plastic surgery is a medical specialty concerned with the "correction" or restoration of form and function, while Cosmetic surgery is merely to improve your looks. And before everyone feels that they do not have any cosmetic surgery before, let me tell you this, even braces is also a form of cosmetic surgery.

Initially, when I watch the advertisement for this show "let me in", which is all about cosmetic surgery, that's what I though. The advertisement seems like promoting cosmetic surgery, like the society judge you because you are ugly, actually it does. Like seriously, their advertisement just talk about having sharper nose and all.

BUT

Today, I was alone at home and decided to click on all STV channel, and came across this TV programme, which makes me feel so touched. They are actually building confidence of victims of their own looks. I watched two mothers, one who lose all her hair due to giving birth, and another got 3rd degree burnt on her face. It hurts me when they start saying their stories, and they are told they got eliminated from the contest and they cried their hearts out.

Both their families are also hurt by their looks, the children (about 8 or 9) couldn't stop people from judging his mother looks due to the burnt. The plastic surgeons of this show discuss how to reform her face. It really did touch my heart when I see the mum said, "I'm both excited and nervous", you could feel them especially when her face structure is really destroyed and she couldn't even open her mouth properly. Suffering all the pains just want to have a complete family.

Many might want to argue but this is still "vain" or want to care how society judge you. But the true is that no matter what you do society do judge you. I believe that "You Only Live Once" and having a pretty life, and a life you don't regret is the most important thing. YOLO is not smoking or doing drugs, but to do something that you won't regret not doing.

For me, I'm undergoing plastic surgery (yes, to correct my speech and bites), which is my jaw surgery. Most of my family or even friends said "I won't dare to do it, or I wish I would have the guts". But at the back of my mind, I know this is a decision that I would regret if I didn't do it. Thus, thanks to my parents (after on and off telling them how badly I need braces, and even quarrel with my dad) they paying half the amount for me.

At the end of this post, I just want to say that although people judge others who did plastic surgery, but have ever though of why they went under the knifes? It is because this society giving them too much insecurity?
